Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the increase in students' vocabulary mastery by using English songs. The subjects of this study were class VII students consisting of 10 male students and 9 female students as respondents. The main problem of this study is the low ability of students to remember and use English vocabulary. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in 2 cycles.The results of this study indicate that the application of English song can improve students' vocabulary mastery. This improvement is shown by the quality of the learning process which is reflected in the activeness, attention and courage of students in showing the results of their work in class. The increase can be seen from the percentage of pre-action values up to cycle II. In the pre-cycle, the percentage of students who passed was 26%, then increased to 47% in cycle I and increased again to 84% in cycle II. It can be seen from the pre-action and the two cycles that there was an increase in learning using English songs, therefore it can be concluded that this research was successful.
