Monolingual and bilingual e-dictionaries/translation machine have been widely used aids for learning English by students. Both e-dictionaries play a vital role in translating English texts into Indonesian language. The objectives of this study were (1) to find out the differences between using monolingual and bilingual E-dictionary/Translation machine in translating English text (2) to know how much was the contribution of monolingual and bilingual e-dictionary/translation machine in translating English text. (3) to investigate the difficulties of using monolingual and bilingual e-dictionary/translation machine in translating English text into Indonesian language. A triangulation mixed-method design was used in this study with the population of 172 students of SMA in South Sumatera at Bimbel Nurul Fikri Palembang and fifty students taken using simple random sampling as the sample. Twenty-five students were tested by using monolingual e-dictionary/translation machine while the others were using bilingual e-dictionary/ translation machine. After that, they were given questionnaires. To process the data, library study, T-Test and Percentage formula were used. The results of study showed there were some different features in monolingual and bilingual e-dictionaries. Consequently, students need skills in optimizing both dictionaries in in translating text. The impact of both e-dictionaries/translation machine was not significant to students` achievement in translating English text to Indonesian language. (0.245) > (0.05). The difficulties in using monolingual dictionary were in understanding the explanation of word definition (22%) did not know how to use the dictionary (11%) and Internet connection (3%). The obstacles in using bilingual e-dictionary/translation machine were the meaning of words in target language are not suitable 78%), multiple meanings (6%) words cannot be translated to target language (6%) Internet connection (9%) Grammar (9%).
